Our wedding and event studio is seeking a Design Manager to lead the creative function. This role blends artistic direction, team leadership, and production execution to ensure that every design—whether an intimate gathering or a large‑scale celebration—is delivered with quality, inclusivity, and professionalism.
This position serves clients of all identities, backgrounds, cultures, and relationship structures.
Pay Rate
: $25–$30 per hour
- Lead the design team from proposal through execution of detailed design projects
- Create design elements as needed
- Produce mood boards and decor proposals, translating complex ideas into clear, executable designs
- Collaborate directly with sales teams to translate client visions into designs
- Oversee on‑site setup of installations and design elements, ensuring quality standards are met
- Make primary decisions on site‑adjustments and logistical challenges during execution
- Develop and manage design budgets for each event, ensuring specifications are met and profitability maintained
- Identify, vet, and engage specialized vendors for custom props, lighting, fabrication, and other design elements outside of the in‑house inventory
- Manage and direct the design team, delegating tasks, providing mentorship, and aligning work with the overall design plan
- Collaborate closely with the Floral Manager to integrate floral vision seamlessly into overall event design
- Ensure designs are executed on time, within budget, and with proper staffing
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in a design‑related field preferred
- 2+ years of proven track record creating, implementing, and executing designs for weddings and/or events (industry knowledge a plus)
- Strong knowledge of design process and project management
- Ability to manage stressful and emotional situations with clients
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
- Organized, analytical, and dynamic
- Passion for design, people, weddings, and events
- Robust portfolio available for viewing
Special working conditions may include regular evening and weekend work, shift work, outdoor work, and interactions with challenging clients. The role can be physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects regularly, and performing repetitive tasks.
