Position Summary
1.0 FTE outpatient Pulmonologist with minimal inpatient Pulm. No critical care component. Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history, collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to patient’s health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients and their families. Provides direct care to individuals specializing in the respiratory system.
Principal Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to individuals specializing in the respiratory system.
- Evaluate, diagnose, consult, medically manage and treat pulmonary disease patients.
- Review patient medical history, collect and prioritize comprehensive data.
- Interpret and coordinate information to make decisions and recommend patient care.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans.
- Work collaboratively to improve patient health and well‑being.
- Practice with consideration for cultural diversity, autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
- Provide care in ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital settings.
- Participate in on‑call rotation.
- Utilize quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in patient care, outcomes, or workflows.
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine.
- Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency training program in Internal Medicine.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship training program in Pulmonary Disease.
- Less than 2 years of demonstrated experience in designated specialty area.
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice. Current certification or active participation in examination process leading to certification in Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine or in Pulmonary Diseases by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (upon hire).
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 certification (Multisource) (upon hire).
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (Multisource) (depending on business unit, upon hire).
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation certification (Multisource) (depending on business unit, upon hire).
- Licensed Physician – WI (upon hire).
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate (upon hire).
- Prescription Monitoring Program certificate (upon hire).
- National Provider Identifier (upon hire).
Medium work: lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently.
Pay Range$375,000 to $425,000 per year based on experience, education, and union agreement.
