This role involves inpatient-only coverage in a general CV/thoracic surgery setting, requiring rounding and admissions.
Responsibilities include performing open and endoscopic procedures such as CABG (on pump and off pump), valvular repair, aneurysm repair, TAVR, LVAD, AICD placement, lung resection (including VATS), bronchoscopy, ventilator management, and surgeries involving the esophagus and diaphragm.
It requires managing 4-5 phone consults, seeing 4-5 patients, and handling 4-5 admissions per 24-hour call, with a call ratio of 1:2.
The position demands quick response times, with a beeper call requiring a 20-minute response.
Qualifications include expertise in general CV and thoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive procedures.
Key skills involve strong clinical judgment, procedural proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Additional benefits include paid malpractice insurance, pre-paid travel and housing, competitive hourly compensation ranging from $375 to $450, and 24-hour access to a dedicated consultant.
Assignments are managed through an online portal, and the employer is a charter member of NALTO.
