At Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Hoops (DSGSH), we believe in healing through connection, compassion, and community. Our mission is to end gun violence by empowering youth and young adults with the tools to strengthen their hearts, minds, and futures. This Thanksgiving, we’re hosting our Boys to Men Overnight Camp: a four‑day, three‑night experience designed for 56 public high school boys (grades 10–12).

Through basketball, mentorship, and guided reflection, we’ll help young men learn to grow, heal, and find purpose.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for passionate, grounded, and inspiring Program Coaches to lead, guide, and mentor our youth during this life‑changing weekend. As a Boys to Men Coach, you’ll do more than run basketball drills, you’ll help young men learn about strength, leadership, and healing from life’s challenges. You’ll serve as their coach, mentor, and motivator, helping them connect their body, mind, and soul on and off the court.

What

You’ll Do
  • Lead and mentor a small group of high school boys throughout the camp experience.
  • Coach daily basketball sessions that teach teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
  • Facilitate group discussions on healing, emotional growth, and positive manhood.
  • Model respect, empathy, and accountability in every interaction.
  • Supervise youth during both day and overnight activities to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Administer or oversee medication if qualified.
  • Participate fully in all workshops, meals, and camp events.
  • Travel with DSGSH using provided transportation (required).
Who You Are
  • You’re passionate about helping young men reach their potential.
  • You believe in the power of mentorship, teamwork, and community.
  • You’re patient, compassionate, and trauma‑informed.
  • You have experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred).
  • You have a background or strong interest in basketball or physical coaching.
  • You’re CPR/First Aid certified and/or able to pass medications (preferred).
  • You’re available Thursday–Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend and ready for an unforgettable experience. (Must stay the entire duration of the camp‑ food and lodging are provided!)
