Job Summary

The Supervisor of the School Age Program is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and recreational activities for school-aged scholars. This individual will manage staff, ensure the safety and well-being of scholars, and maintain compliance with state licensing regulations. As a key member of the leadership team, the supervisor will also build strong relationships with families, staff, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities Program Management & Development
  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
  • Create lesson plans and weekly schedules that align with the organization’s mission and educational goals.
  • Ensure programs support academic success, social-emotional development, and physical health.
  • Plan for special events, field trips, and family engagement activities.
Staff Supervision
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, including teachers and aides.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, evaluations, and professional development sessions.
  • Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate child-to-staff ratios in compliance with regulations.
Child Supervision & Safety
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all scholars by maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor classroom and activity areas, addressing behavioral issues promptly and effectively.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and handle emergency situations according to protocol.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and communications with families.
Compliance & Licensing
  • Ensure that the program complies with all state and local licensing requirements for child care.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on staff certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid) and child health and safety requirements.
  • Prepare for and participate in inspections by regulatory agencies.
Family Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their scholar’s progress and program activities.
  • Address family concerns and questions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Organize and facilitate parent-teacher conferences or meetings to discuss individual scholar’s needs and progress.
Program Evaluation & Reporting
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly reports on attendance, program outcomes, and staff performance for the Program Director.
  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for program activities and supplies.
Community Partnerships
  • Collaborate with local schools, non-profits, and community organizations to enhance programming and provide additional resources to children and families.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, events, and conferences as necessary.
