Para educator Special Education

Full‑Time: 184 days / 6.5 hours per day.
Duties:
- Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center‑based settings.
- Manage behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student).
- Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Manage physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification, completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completion of 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passage of the Para Educator/Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communications, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
- Comfortable with technology and computers.
- Cooperative teamwork with students and staff; ability to supervise and work under direction.
- Regular attendance, including the assignment of a complete day.
- Physical capacity to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform other physical duties (toileting, feeding, self‑care, behavior management, data entry). Must work physically in the building.
Rate of Pay
- $20.00–$25.30 per hour (DOQ with K‑12 experience)
- $21.15–$26.45 per hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits (DOQ with K‑12 experience)
- $22.00–$27.30 per hour with BA degree (DOQ with K‑12 experience)
- Additional $0.50 per hour for Center‑based students/classrooms 50%+ time.
- Additional $1.00 per hour for Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center.
Start Date: ASAP.
Insurance benefits are available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
