Full-Time Faculty Position (3/3 Teaching Load)

Position Summary
The Department of Creative Entrepreneurship at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, beginning August 2026. We seek an innovative educator and practitioner with expertise at the intersection of environmental visualization, climate/sustainable/circular entrepreneurship, and mixed-media creative practice.

The ideal candidate will bring both scholarly and practical experience that bridges creative enterprise, design, and sustainability. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to an emerging, interdisciplinary curriculum that prepares students to become the most entrepreneurial artists and designers in the country.

Full-time faculty teach three courses each semester (or equivalent), and participate in committee work and other departmental and college activities. MCAD offers renewable, long-term contracts based on a clearly defined peer-review process. Faculty appointment for this position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank commensurate with experience. Assistant through Professor compensation range: $60,907 - $90,155, dependent on the collective bargaining agreement.

This position is benefits-eligible and reports to the Chair of Creative Entrepreneurship.

The Department of Creative Entrepreneurship at MCAD offers a Bachelor of Science degree designed for artists, designers, and makers who wish to build sustainable, purpose-driven businesses in the creative industries. The department emphasizes experiential learning, community collaboration, and regenerative economic models.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a 3/3 course load across the undergraduate Creative Entrepreneurship curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver courses in climate entrepreneurship, environmental visualization, circular design, mixed-media storytelling, grant-writing and business development for creatives.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students, supporting their academic and professional growth.
  • Maintain an active practice, research agenda, or creative enterprise consistent with the college's mission.
  • Participate in departmental and college service, including curriculum development, assessment, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to a culture of inclusion, experimentation, and creative innovation.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • MFA, MBA, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., entrepreneurship, design, sustainability, environmental studies, fine arts, creative industries, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as an entrepreneur or founder in the creative industries.
  • Evidence of innovative teaching or professional practice that integrates sustainability, design, and creative business strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interdisciplinary teaching and practice spanning art, design, technology, and entrepreneurship.
  • Experience developing project-based or community-engaged curricula.
  • Ability to teach using both analog and digital/mixed-media tools for environmental visualization.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in pedagogy and creative practice.
