Franklin Beacons Youth Counselor

Pay Range: $17.50–$18.50 per hour (DOQ)
Status: Part-Time (16–20 hours per week)
Location: YWCA Minneapolis – Franklin Middle School

What You’ll Do

As a Youth Counselor in the Franklin Beacons after school program, you’ll engage elementary and middle school youth in enriching, hands-on activities that promote learning, confidence, and connection. You’ll collaborate with the Beacons team to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where youth can explore their interests, build relationships, and thrive.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant activities for groups of youth.
  • Collaborate with coworkers to create a welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered after school environment.
  • Maintain and promote safety standards for physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support communication with participants and families to strengthen relationships and encourage consistent attendance.
  • Assist with registration, data collection, and program evaluation activities.
  • Contribute to program reports and documentation.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and collaboration across Girls & Youth programs.
Schedule:
  • Monday–Thursday, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM (program hours: 2:20 PM – 5:15 PM)
  • Includes preparation time and professional development activities.
  • For Franklin the hours are Monday-Thursday 3:00-6:00pm
