Position DescriptionThe Dean of Students will provide assistance to the building principal to ensure Tier One, MTSS social skill instruction and support for all students.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Student Support Specialist will serve in the capacity to offer assistance to the building principal and social worker in each building to help ensure students’ needs are being met.
Student/Family Support- Identify and maintain check-in/check-out system for students-at-risk and process referrals.
- Monitor specific student behavior plans and provide support by monitoring progress, providing student support and connecting with families.
- Connect with families of students who have high truancy due to tardies or unexcused absences.
- Provide student supervision as needed (e.g., recess, field trip, mornings).
- Coordinate or serve as a member of various building teams and provide support and guidance for students in need of intervention (e.g. 1:1 intervention, small group facilitation, large group).
- Coordinate Targeted Services Interventions.
- Other duties as assigned or apparent.
- Assist teams with determining strategic interventions for Tier I and Tier II services.
- Assist with the completion of paperwork and documentation for intervention data gathering.
- Provide support to PLC and grade level teams to identify and discuss issues relating to student progress.
- Serve as or support school assessment coordinator.
- Other duties assigned or apparent.
- Assist with the implementation of operational guidelines in the areas of student activities, field trips, standardized testing programs, student conduct, community involvement/collaboration.
- Attend IEP meetings as administrative representative, as necessary.
- CPI training may be required for this assignment.
- Coordination of testing responsibilities.
- Provide positive leadership in MTSS.
- Student Intervention.

- Supervisory Responsibilities:
May provide work direction to non-licensed staff. - Valid educator license required.
- Administrative Degree Preferred.
