Your ImpactThe Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) in the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division performs tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites within 50 miles of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants, following preventive and corrective maintenance standards while maintaining safety and professionalism.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of solar utility and sub‑station equipment.
- Maintain documentation including work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency schedules.
- Use digital multimeters, megger, amp clamps, and similar tools to troubleshoot electrical components.
- Test and troubleshoot installed solar equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Apply a strong safety background with experience in Lock‑Out Tag‑Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per PEARCE Renewables policies and insurance requirements.
- Possess a valid Journeyman Electrician license or higher (required).
- 1+ years of experience in commercial/industrial O&M on solar power plants (preferred).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills.
- Specific solar experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub‑station equipment (TMEIC/SMA/Sungrow/Nextracker/ATI, etc.) is preferred.
- Take initiative to elevate site issues.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into apprentices.
- High aptitude and strong work ethic.
- Live approximately within 50 miles of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Be prepared for outdoor work in ambient temperatures.
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, and on‑call service availability via phone/text.
- Travel up to 50% of the time (subject to company support).
Base pay range: $30,000 – $42,000. Additional compensation may include performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, and other applicable benefits.
