Overview
My client is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Civil/Environmental Engineer to join the team. The role focuses on technical work and project management—independently on smaller projects or as a team member on larger projects. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to grow professionally. There is flexibility for this role to be full-time or part-time (minimum ~30 hours per week).

- Participate and support a wide variety of water-related projects, including project management activities, planning and conceptual design, and detailed design and implementation.
- Perform or review all aspects of design (grading, drainage, water, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and conveyance engineering design, including open channel, bank stabilization, stream restoration, geotechnical, and civil design.
- Excellent time management skills with a thorough understanding of task assignment, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with efficient use of time and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in hydrology modeling and 1D & 2D hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydro
CAD, SWMM, RAS) and knowledge of design software (GIS, CAD) – working experience a plus. - Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.
- Lead water resource planning studies for conveyance, flood analysis, water quality, and ecological benefits.
- Prepare technical reports, concept designs, construction specifications, construction drawings, bidding documents, and permit applications for approval.
- Participate in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel, and governing entities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental or civil engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or able to obtain licensure within 6 to 12 months of employment; expected to become licensed in MN and ND at minimum.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
