Senior Mechanical Engineer – Minneapolis, MN AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our international engineering practice in Minneapolis. This role focuses on designing HVAC systems for laboratories, clean rooms, and healthcare facilities. The candidate will lead a team of engineers, develop technical calculations, create construction drawings, and produce design reports for mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing systems in accordance with building codes.

• Lead complex mechanical engineering projects with a team of designers.
• Provide technical advisory to the team and conduct business development activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Apply knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, ICC codes, and Master Specs.
• Design and analyze HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, medical gas, and air distribution systems.
• Review design calculations and drawings for quality control.
• Assist in the development of engineering budgets, schedules, and proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of direct HVAC system design experience.
• Experience designing for healthcare, laboratory, or other complex HVAC and plumbing projects.
• Proficiency with REVIT, CAD, load‑calculation software, and Excel.
• Construction‑phase experience: submittals, inspections, RFIs, and change order management.

• Minimum 15 years of direct HVAC design experience.
• Experience preparing proposals, budgets, and work plans.
• Familiarity with project‑management software such as Microsoft Project.

• Current position does not offer sponsorship.

USD 180,000 – USD 208,000 per year, based on education, experience, and location.
