Great opportunity for an experienced
Principal Embedded Software Engineer
to step into a Principal Firmware Engineer role located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Our client is a leading industrial electronics manufacturer looking for a
Principal Firmware Engineer
to lead the firmware design, implementation, and testing aspects of New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining products throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own software architecture and design execution, along with processes, tools, and metrics used for new product development and sustaining programs.
• Lead software strategic planning, concept generation, architecture definition, and translation to system/subsystem/module definitions ensuring reliability, safety, and sustainability.
• Provide technical leadership to software team members.
• Capture requirements and rationale for regulated products.
• Work closely with hardware engineers on Hardware/Firmware integration and diagnostics strategies.
• Manage Dev Ops tools and processes to ensure traceability from requirements to test cases.
• Act as Product Owner using Agile methodology for software/firmware development, communicating with project stakeholders.
• Ensure development processes are followed, lead technical reviews, implement source code meeting standards, and document work deliverables.
• Collaborate with technical experts to ensure comprehensive use case coverage and regulation compliance.
• Ensure code is well-documented, tested, and controlled.
• Perform unit testing using IDEs, debuggers, and analyzers.
• Develop work breakdown plans and task estimates to support project management.
• Participate in roadmap planning and address resource gaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software and embedded firmware development (C/C++).
• Experience leading significant portions of firmware development from inception to market launch.
• 3+ years of RTOS experience.
