Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks an Intermediate Acoustics/Noise Consultant to support our expanding U.S. environmental noise, vibration, and acoustics (NVA) practice. In this role you will collaborate with scientists and engineers supporting clients in renewable energy, power generation, data center, oil and gas, site development, transportation, industrial and federal markets. The NVA team provides support from conceptual design to post‑construction evaluations, offering planning, design, noise/vibration monitoring, noise modeling, permitting, public outreach, expert witness and post‑construction studies.

The position is located at the Stantec office in Plymouth, MN. It offers a hybrid work schedule with three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to noise/acoustics projects from proposal to completion, working with the acoustics team to deliver projects on schedule and within scope and budget.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Conduct technical analyses, modeling and measurements.
  • Manage small to moderate sized noise assessments.
  • Lead site visits, field noise measurement surveys, post‑processing of measurement data and development of predictive noise models.
  • Analyze and interpret acoustic modeling results, evaluate mitigation measures and document findings in technical reports.
  • Pursue professional development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
Qualifications
  • Fundamental knowledge of acoustics and noise control.
  • Experience in environmental acoustics/noise assessments.
  • Experience with acoustic measurement practices, software and instrumentation.
  • Experience with acoustical modeling software (e.g., Cadna

    A) and technical tools (spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD).
  • Preferred:
    Experience managing small to moderate sized noise assessments and reviewing local/state/federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Travel periodically for field work, including multi‑day trips within the United States.
  • Strong work ethic, ethical standards and teamwork orientation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Beneficial:
    Experience with natural gas pipeline and compressor station noise studies (FERC requirements), vibration, underwater noise, transportation noise and building acoustics.
  • Beneficial:
    Familiarity with scientific programming languages for data processing and analysis (Matlab, Python).
Education & Experience
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, engineering, physical sciences or related field. Coursework in acoustics is preferred.
  • Beneficial:
    Master’s degree in acoustics, engineering, physical sciences or related field.
  • Preferred:
    Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience with technical specialization in acoustics and noise assessments.
Pay Range

Locations in MN, VT & various CA, NY areas – Min Salary $90,900 – Max Salary $131,800.
