Position: Project Controls Specialist (contract)

Job Summary

This position offers the opportunity to take full ownership of complex project schedules that drive the successful delivery of large-scale renewable energy and generation projects. Working closely with Project Managers and cross‑functional teams, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and continuously updating comprehensive schedules that span the entire project lifecycle from early development through construction and closeout. Your expertise will directly support critical decision‑making processes through accurate forecasting, progress tracking, and detailed reporting across multi‑million to billion‑dollar capital projects.

This is a hands‑on role requiring deep technical proficiency and the ability to manage multiple concurrent schedules while ensuring accuracy, logic integrity, and alignment with project management best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive Primavera P6 schedules for the full lifecycle of projects, from early development through construction and closeout
  • Manage schedules across multiple concurrent projects, including large, complex, multi‑million to billion‑dollar capital projects
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers and cross‑functional teams including engineering, land rights, permitting, supply chain, and construction to gather weekly and monthly schedule updates
  • Ensure schedules accurately reflect logic, dependencies, constraints, milestones, and progress across all project entities
  • Support Project Managers with forecasting, variance analysis, and review of project expenditures
  • Generate and distribute schedule and cost reports to support project controls and management decision‑making
  • Respond to data requests and support internal and external reporting requirements
  • Export schedules and reports using Excel, SharePoint, and other reporting tools as needed
  • Assist with detailed cost tracking and project controls activities as required
  • Maintain accurate, auditable project controls documentation
Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
  • Demonstrated experience creating, updating, revising, and maintaining schedules directly in P6
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and best practices
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong coordination and communication skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
  • Analytical skills for forecasting and variance analysis
  • Proficiency with reporting tools and data export processes
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation
Experience
  • 10+ years of hands‑on scheduling experience supporting large‑scale capital projects
  • Experience supporting multi‑million to billion‑dollar projects with complex scopes and dependencies
  • Utility industry experience strongly preferred
  • Background in industrial and/or construction scheduling preferred
  • Experience with renewable energy projects including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, and/or thermal generation preferred
  • Experience supporting greenfield generation plant projects preferred
Qualifications
  • P6 certification preferred
  • Familiarity with SAP Work and Asset Management preferred
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools preferred
  • Experience using SharePoint for document and schedule distribution preferred
