Location: Minneapolis, MN

Terms: Full-Time, On-site

We are seeking an engineer with a strong interest in evaluating and restoring existing structures. This position combines site investigation, structural analysis, and design development to address deterioration, damage, and performance issues in buildings and infrastructure. Typical assignments include parking facilities, plazas, and a range of commercial and residential structures. The role provides opportunities to apply both technical rigour and creative thinking to projects that often require unique, case‑specific solutions.

You will work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver practical outcomes that enhance safety and extend building lifespans.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys, diagnostic testing, and construction monitoring to document conditions and gather field data.
  • Use hand calculations and structural modelling software to analyse existing systems and design reinforcement or repair solutions.
  • Prepare written technical reports that present findings and outline recommended repair strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of design drawings, specifications, and supporting project documents.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Review contractor documentation, such as submittals and shop drawings, during the construction phase.
  • Carry out field visits during construction to ensure repair designs are implemented as intended.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (accredited programme).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in building evaluation, design, or repair preferred.
  • Background in analysing or rehabilitating existing structures.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and clear verbal communication.
  • Experience with structural software such as SAP
    2000 or ETABS.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Additional
  • Ability to undertake hands‑on site work, including roof access, ladder use, and suspended platform inspections.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits beyond the local area.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work well within a project team.
