Job Summary: This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Department and is responsible for working with Engineers to understand new design requirements, utilizing CAD software to create the designs, reviewing finished designs with engineering, finalizing all relevant documentation, maintaining CAD standards and installations within the department, processing Engineering Change Orders and providing support to Operations.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with Engineers to understand the needs and requirements of new complex designs.
- Utilize CAD software to independently transfer the design specs and requirements into a complete model.
- Present designs and finished models to Engineers and work closely with to solve any remaining issues.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), create technical manuals and assist with cost estimates.
- Finalize all documentation including part prints, assembly drawings, and specialty procedures.
- Maintain CAD standards and installations within the department.
- Process Engineering Change Order documents.
- Assemble prototypes, modify parts, and assist with design verification testing.
- Work with engineers to set up and maintain parts and assemblies on company ERP.
- Provide support to Operations during the building process.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associates degree in Engineering CAD Technology or equivalent experience.
- Five years’ experience utilizing CAD tools and completing complex mechanical designs.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and Engineering Change Order initiation and processing.
- Strong computer and CAD knowledge.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience working with Printed Circuit Board designs.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works and 3D design tools.
