We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join a leading engineering consulting team in Minneapolis. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity focused on designing mechanical systems for cutting-edge science and technology environments including laboratories, research facilities, clean rooms, and healthcare spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and plumbing system design, a current active Mechanical PE license, and at least 15 years of relevant experience leading mechanical design projects in science and technology facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the mechanical engineering design for science and technology facilities including labs, clean rooms, research, and healthcare environments
- Develop HVAC and plumbing system designs that meet project requirements and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and completeness
- Participate in client meetings and presentations as a senior technical representative
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements relevant to S&T facilities
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory)
- Minimum 15 years of mechanical engineering experience, specifically in science and technology buildings
- Strong expertise in HVAC system design and plumbing system design for complex facilities
- Proven experience with laboratories, research facilities, clean rooms, healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments
- Demonstrated leadership in design projects and ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working in engineering consulting firms or similar environments preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to work 100% onsite in Minneapolis, MN
