Controls Engineer
Job DescriptionAs a Controls Engineer, you will design, install, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, motion control, robot, and vision software solutions. Your work will align with company design standards and customer requirements for all assigned projects.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Project Managers, Mechanical Design, and Electrical Design teams to understand machine function and develop appropriate software solutions.
- Support the Electrical Design Engineering team by participating in design reviews and providing technical guidance from a programming perspective.
- Identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the process.
- Provide customers with technical support.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, automation, and controls engineering, particularly with Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Experience with machine vision, servo motors, motion control, and Fanuc robots.
- Ability to understand structured software design principles.
- Knowledge of electrical design and engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree preferred with 5+ years of experience, but candidates with an AAS degree will also be considered.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW and various machine vision software applications.
- Ability to understand and follow safety policies including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, arc flash safety, and robotic systems safety.
- Capability to troubleshoot and debug complex automation systems, addressing software bugs, wiring issues, or mechanical problems.
The role is 100% onsite, working directly with machines. There is occasional travel to local customers and potentially less than 10% travel out of state or to other locations for support. The team consists of approximately 12 employees, offering a small company atmosphere while being backed by a global organization.
Job Type & LocationPermanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $ per year.
