For us at Trane Technologies, and through our businesses including Trane® and Thermo King, sustainability is not just how we do business—it is our business. Do you dare to look at the world’s challenges and see impactful possibilities?
Do you want to contribute to making a better future? If the answer is yes, we invite you to consider joining us in boldly challenging what’s possible for a sustainable world. Learn about our benefits designed for you to Thrive at work and boldly go. Where is the work:
Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
What’s in it for you:
Are you ready to shape the future of sustainable, intelligent climate technology? As our next Controls Hardware Architect at Thermo King, you will pioneer modern embedded controls hardware architectures and development practices across our product lines and steer the creation of our next‑generation solutions. In this pivotal technical leadership role, you will take full ownership of functional, technical, and integration architectures for embedded controls hardware, ensuring robust connectivity with Thermo King’s internal ecosystems as well as the external systems and devices relied on by our customers, dealers, and partners.
You will partner with the architecture team and cross‑functional colleagues, set the benchmark for world‑class controls solutions and champion end‑to‑end development from concept through execution.
- Serve as technical expert for embedded controls hardware architecture technology stack definition, leading analysis and improvements to design simplicity, modularity & re‑use to provide embedded controls hardware capabilities across Thermo King products
- Create and govern architecture standards, cybersecurity, wireless electronics, and modularity component roadmaps across product models, platforms, and regions with key engagement activity with Product management, Product Platform engineering, Telematics, and Controls teams
- Evaluate and select appropriate embedded controls hardware technologies and platforms for solution development.
- Lead tradeoff analysis and recommendations, preparing and presenting architectural reports to senior management
- Create embedded controls hardware design process standard work guidelines, templates/tools (ie, system diagrams, calculation spreadsheets, error checking, etc…) to improve product development cycle time, promote consistency across teams, and to enable rapid innovation with a high degree of reuse
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to controls hardware engineering teams; supporting the design, review, and implementation of controls hardware electronics components
- Ensure embedded controls hardware meets all functional, security, regulatory (e.g., wireless, cybersecurity compliance), and quality requirements for industrial and transportation environments
- Multi‑region travel up to 5% may be required
- Proficient in embedded controls hardware selection, PCB design, layout, schematic capture, and use of design/development tools (e.g. Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Siemens Xpedition/PADS Professional, etc…), including design for signal integrity and controlled impedance layer stack‑up techniques.
- Experience with microprocessor and microcontroller architectures along with various communication links (CAN, SPI) and their impact on embedded hardware design.
- Experience with IoT wireless electronics hardware selection and product design (RF, analog, digital…
