Generation Project Development Engineer; Eng., Sr, or Principal

We are seeking a Generation Project Development Engineer to support the development and delivery of large-scale power generation projects from early feasibility through to construction readiness. The successful candidate will contribute technical expertise across project definition, option appraisal, design development, consenting, procurement and delivery planning, helping to ensure that projects are safe, technically robust, commercially viable and aligned with relevant regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical scopes, specifications and design deliverables; coordinating engineering inputs across civil, mechanical, electrical, control and environmental disciplines; assessing grid connection, site infrastructure and constructability requirements; and supporting technology selection and project risk management. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, network operators and statutory authorities, providing clear technical advice and ensuring that project assumptions, interfaces, dependencies and decisions are properly documented.

The role will also involve contributing to feasibility studies, cost and schedule estimates, business cases, tender evaluations, design reviews and technical due diligence, as well as supporting projects through planning, consenting and investment approval stages.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline relevant to power generation or major infrastructure, with demonstrable experience in project development, engineering consultancy, utilities, energy or a related sector. Experience of generation technologies, grid connections, electrical systems, balance-of-plant design, project controls or regulatory approvals would be advantageous. You will be expected to demonstrate sound engineering judgement, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with experience of engaging effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional registration, or a clear commitment towards achieving it, is desirable. The position may be appointed at Engineer, Senior, Staff or Principal level, depending on experience and technical leadership capability.
