Job Summary
This position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a critical bridge between technology and finance, ensuring that software-related capital projects are evaluated with precision and aligned with regulatory standards. Working within a collaborative Project Intake team, you will be responsible for analyzing complex project requests, determining appropriate financial treatment, and ensuring compliance with capitalization policies. Your expertise will directly influence how the organization classifies and manages significant technology investments, making you an essential partner to IT, Finance, Project Management, and Capital Asset Accounting teams.
This role requires a blend of financial acumen, technical understanding, and strong communication skills to translate intricate project details into clear financial documentation that supports strategic decision-making.
- Review incoming project requests to ensure alignment with internal capital policies and strategic objectives
- Validate completeness and accuracy of Statements of Work and supporting documentation
- Assess project scope and deliverables to determine appropriate financial classification
- Analyze project costs and deliverables to determine proper capitalization treatment under GAAP and FASB standards
- Provide clear, well-documented recommendations for financial coding of capital versus operational expenses
- Partner with IT, Finance, Project Managers, and Capital Asset Accounting to facilitate accurate project evaluation
- Translate technical project details into understandable financial documentation for diverse audiences
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to internal capital policies and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain accurate records for audit and financial reporting purposes
- Support compliance reviews and respond to audit requests as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve intake and classification workflows
- Leverage automation and AI tools to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for financial intake processes
- Strong understanding of capitalization policies and fixed asset accounting
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and FASB compliance frameworks
- Expertise in Cap Ex versus OpEx determinations
- Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing Statements of Work and project documentation
- Understanding of IT project lifecycle and software implementation processes
- Experience with financial governance and capital project budgeting
- Familiarity with automation and AI tools for process optimization
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Effective collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- 3–6 years of experience in capital analysis or financial governance
- Demonstrated experience in IT project financial management
- Background in capital project budgeting or fixed assets management
- Proven track record working with software or IT-related projects
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
