SUMMARY

We are seeking a Pharmacy Senior Director to join our team. This full‑time role will work flexible days.

Purpose of this Position

Provides overall strategic, administrative, and operational leadership for Hennepin Healthcare pharmacy services and medication management, including acute and community pharmacies, clinic‑ and infusion‑based services, mail and specialty pharmacies, MTM services, pharmacy revenue management, and the Regional Poison Center. Accountable for staffing, resource management, budget, legal and regulatory compliance, and oversight of programs. Coordinates with other departments to ensure organizational objectives are met and executes strategic and operational plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and implements pharmacy strategic initiatives and operating plans to optimize patient care, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Translates organization vision and strategies to the department level, mobilizes resources to achieve outcomes.
  • Establishes systems and processes to drive accountability for customer care, financial, and operational outcomes.
  • Develops and executes monitoring metrics for pharmacy and medication use, quality, safety, operational efficiencies, employee experience, and financial vitality.
  • Manages pharmacy budget planning, monitors performance, and addresses variances to meet or exceed approved budget.
  • Provides leadership and direction to pharmacy team leadership and members.
  • Oversees implementation of drug use initiatives and pharmacy care management initiatives across the pharmacy enterprise.
  • Acquires and purchases quality drugs for HHS Pharmacy usage.
  • Ensures medication storage, access, and distribution meet patient care and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures implementation and compliance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and accrediting standards, including Minnesota Board of Pharmacy statutes.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate reports, pharmacy records, and patient information as required by standards and policies.
  • Builds collaborative interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to support effective, efficient, and safe operations.
  • Engages in regular communication with leadership across the system about the medication management system performance needs and leads evidence‑based, cost‑effective medication use initiatives.
  • Facilitates and ensures compliance with human resources processes; develops talent within the team.
  • Serves as the RPD for the Health System Pharmacy Administrative and Leadership residency program (HSPAL).
  • Builds relationships with pharmacy leaders in the local, state, and national healthcare community to partner on medication management improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of progressive pharmacy management experience within retail and/or inpatient hospital pharmacy services.
  • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of MN.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Administrative residency.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

    D.) degree.
  • Master's degree in pharmacy administration or business administration.
  • Experience with residency programs as preceptor and RPD.
  • Active involvement in pharmacy professional organizations.
  • Epic experience.

  • Strong track record of building internal and external collaborative relationships.
  • Proven ability to establish department work plans, set goals, and manage to those objectives.
