The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a faculty member at the Associate Professor position from candidates with a Ph.D or equivalent degree specializing in neurophysiology and neuromodulation technologies for Parkinson's disease. This position will be the Associate Director of the Microelectrode Recording Electrophysiology Services Clinical Program. The clinical neuromodulation program supports deep brain stimulation surgical treatment for Parkinson's patients and NIH‑funded studies of the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease, novel applications of deep brain stimulation technology to the treatment of neurological disease, the mechanisms of deep brain stimulation, and motor systems neurophysiology.
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a leadership position within the DBS clinical and research program as an Associate Director with responsibilities including supervising diverse teams of research staff, securing extramural research funding, publishing peer‑reviewed manuscripts, teaching students and fellows, and participating in service activities.
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, neuroscience or a related science field.
- Strong track record of securing extramural research funding and peer‑reviewed publications.
- Current NIH funding.
- Expertise in clinical electrophysiology.
- Expertise with deep brain stimulation technologies for movement disorders, specifically Parkinson's disease.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
Pay Range: $90,000 – $155,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
