About the Job
This position is in a laboratory involved in defining the pathologic mechanisms and therapies for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD) using cellular and transgenic mouse models. The candidate will assist the Principal Investigator, Postdoctoral Scientists, Graduate Students, and Technicians by performing bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic, proteomic, and quantitative neuropathological data.
Responsibilities- 75% effort:
Bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic and proteomic data. Work with a bioinformatic analyst from MSI—currently Dr. Ying Zhang—to process transcriptomic data generated by the lab and from public databases. Analyses include cell identification, differential gene expression, and pathway analysis using R‑ or Python‑based programs. - 20% effort:
Isolation of nuclei for single nuclear RNA‑seq analysis. Train to isolate nuclei from frozen brain tissue for single‑nucleus RNA‑seq. - 5% effort:
General laboratory duties—including preparation for lab meetings, stocking materials, and cleaning laboratory areas.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience equal to at least four years; background in bioinformatics and/or biostatistical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with neurological diseases or analysis of transcriptomic data.
