SUMMARYWe are currently seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Senior to join our Addiction Medicine team. This full-time role will work on-site.
Purpose of this positionUnder general supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, provides assessment, referral, and rehabilitative services to patients with addictive disorders in accordance with Minnesota Rule Chapter 9530 and Minnesota Statute 148F specific to practices and responsibilities of licensed alcohol and drug counselors (LADC).
This is a float type position consisting of work with individual counseling and group intensive outpatient program work.
This position will work 8 am - 4:40 pm while some flexing into the evenings in the future may be needed.
This position is posted at the senior level and depending on applicant pool, can down fill to an Alcohol & Drug Counselor or ADC‑T position (temporary permit).
Minnesota Department of Human Services (245G) requires that licensed chemical dependency treatment programs and individuals hired into such clinics will need to sign a declaration of being free of substance use issues at the present time and for the two years prior to employment.
This is a grant funded position for up to five years.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Conduct initial interviews with patient and recommend appropriate rehabilitative services
- Provide case management and discharge planning services
- Conduct screenings and brief interventions
- Coordinate care with patient's medical and treatment team
- Conduct funding assessments
- Utilize community resources for referrals and assistance
- Counsel family members as needed
- Conduct intakes, orientations, and counseling within treatment services
- Conduct educational classes and group meetings within treatment services
- Conduct various types of individual and group therapies within treatment services
- Coordinate medical/legal cases, file paperwork for petitions for commitment and attend court hearings as needed within consult services
- May participate in development of treatment services and programming
- Precept student interns and assist with training new staff
- Other duties as assigned but only after applicable training
- At least three (3) years' experience as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor providing direct services
- In Medication Assisted Treatment Service, experience in methadone treatment and/or mental health setting is preferred
- Experience providing clinical supervision to alcohol and drug counselor interns or trainees
