OverviewResponsible for the assessment, treatment, and management of the cardiopulmonary system for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. The individual must demonstrate proficiency in all modalities of respiratory care, including oxygen therapy, airway clearance, and ventilator management. This position may also be required to work in the sleep lab.
What you will do- Evaluate patients, review and interpret prescribing orders regarding respiratory and cardiopulmonary treatments, and document assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record.
- Develop and implement respiratory care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes.
- Administer oxygen, aerosol therapy, airway clearance techniques, and ventilator support, including setup, titration, and maintenance.
- Ensure airway patency with suctioning and perform CPR and emergency airway care when needed.
- Conduct blood gas sampling and operate the blood gas analyzer.
- Assist in pulmonary rehabilitation by providing exercises and education.
- Assist in outpatient clinic duties and schedule sleep studies, obtaining prior authorizations when applicable.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as pulmonary function, stress exercise, EKG, EEG, oximetry, Holter, and cardiac event monitoring.
- Instruct clinical staff on respiratory equipment use and EKG operation.
- Support policy implementation, quality assurance reporting, equipment maintenance, and supply ordering.
The individual must be able to work the specified hours. Qualifications include visual acuity, effective communication, hearing, and understanding of speech. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as appropriate.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience- Respiratory Therapist licensed in the state upon hire.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by NBRC upon hire.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC upon hire.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-3 years of clinical experience.
