AboutThe Role
Basic
Purpose:
The Pastry Cook prepares all bread and pastry items of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion and presentation standards; completes mise en place and sets up the station for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner service. Collaborates with the Executive Pastry Chef to develop and produce innovative products for each hotel outlet.
- Produce and assist with the mise‑en‑place and cooking of all menu items ensuring the highest standards are maintained for all outlets.
- Ensure superior production of all sweet items, pastries, cakes, ice creams, sorbets, breads, chocolates, etc. for all outlets as well as banquets and amenities.
- Establish standard recipes and ensure compliance with them.
- Communicate regularly with the Pastry management team, and contribute to menu development and recipe creation for a variety of outlets.
- Create and maintain a positive work environment conducive to learning and growth for all team members.
- Assist in prep work as required for the next shift.
- Experience with wedding cakes, banquets, or bread work is a plus.
- A minimum 3–5 years culinary or related work experience.
- High school education, cooking school or culinary institute education or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Works in a careful and meticulous manner.
- Strong sense of urgency.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Wage: $23.20 – $27.74 per hour.
