Position Overview
The human resources and operations associate primarily supports human resources tasks and initiatives, and secondarily supports general operations tasks, using a people‑centered lens to help nurture a positive organizational climate and culture. This position reports to the people and culture generalist. Priority is given to applications received by Friday, January 23, 2026.

In Saint Paul Public Schools, 80% of students identify as non‑white, 70% are eligible for free and reduced priced lunch, and over 110 languages and dialects are spoken in the district.
- Execute administrative duties, including drafting letters and collecting necessary paperwork.
- Support organizational recruiting and hiring processes, including job postings, collection and organization of application materials, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and onboarding.
- Monitor processes and checklists for each hire and separation, and execute assigned onboarding and offboarding tasks, including but not limited to:
- Creating and updating employee records internally and externally.
- Collecting and processing required paperwork.
- Updating staff webpages.
- Field questions from employees and provide customer service support, including management of the HR Team email inbox and directing inquiries to the appropriate HR resources.
- Support the people and culture generalist in administering the HRIS (human resources information system) and benefit portals.
- Prepare payroll‑related HR items for payroll processing.
- Ensure staff have the necessary training and information regarding payroll‑related items such as timecards, time off requests, and other use of HRIS.
- Maintain all employee records and personnel files.
- Maintain confidentiality of all HR‑related information.
- Complete employment verifications.
- Provide back‑up support to people and culture generalist as needed.
- Support HR initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement and retention, including logistics tasks.
- Build and maintain relationships across all staff, and keep a pulse on staff needs and satisfaction levels.
- Assist with employee recognition.
- Assist with general operations tasks such as/related to:
- Processing mail and checks for deposit.
- Maintaining a functioning office environment.
- Nonprofit administration.
- Process documentation and record‑keeping.
- File management.
- Light IT support (user password resets, etc.).
- Data entry.
- Coordinate logistics for operations team meetings/retreats.
- Help inform operations team of staff questions and issues that need to be addressed.
- Support organization‑wide strategic goals.
- Support operations team’s annual priorities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date expertise and knowledge related to job functions.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Provide backup coverage for operations colleagues as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of full‑time employment experience in an administrative role or customer service.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and collaborative processes.

- Must reside in Minnesota for the duration of employment.
- Experience working in a human resources or equivalent confidential environment.
