Lead Technical Writer

Location: Minneapolis, MN (hybrid 3 days/week onsite)

Duration: 6 months (with intention to extend)

• We are hiring a Lead Technical Writer to build and lead a small team of technical writers supporting enterprise technology and data initiatives within a financial services environment. This role is hands‑on and strategic — responsible not only for writing, but for setting standards, mentoring writers, and modernising documentation practices using AI

• The ideal candidate has previously led or managed technical writers
  , has deep experience in financial services
  , and has successfully implemented AI‑assisted documentation workflows

• Lead and mentor a team of technical writers (workload planning, quality reviews, guidance)
• Define and enforce documentation standards, templates, and best practices
• Own documentation strategy across platforms, applications, and data products
• Partner with senior engineering, architecture, risk, and compliance leaders
• Review and approve complex technical documentation
• Drive adoption of AI tools to:
  • Improve consistency and accuracy
  • Reduce manual effort across the documentation lifecycle
  • Ensure documentation supports regulatory, audit, and risk requirements

• 7+ years of technical writing experience
• Proven experience leading or managing technical writers
• Financial services / banking experience required
• Experience documenting enterprise systems, platforms, and data ecosystems
• Hands‑on experience using AI tools for technical documentation
• Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder‑management skills

• Experience modernising documentation programmes at scale
• Familiarity with cloud, data platforms, APIs, or Dev Ops environments
• Experience working with compliance, risk, or audit partners
