).

  • Proven administrator experience with the following technologies, tools, utilities or methodologies:
  • Day to day administration of Greenplum and Postgres databases
  • Experience in UNIX/LINUX
  • PL/SQL, PL/pgsql, Shell, Perl, python
  • A deep understanding of Postgres internals from versions 8.2 to 9.x
  • Database connectivity/networking - clients, ODBC, JDBC.
  • Experience in Data warehousing technologies.
  • Database fundamentals - Database concepts, SQL, queries, plans, joins.
  • OS fundamentals - Linux, navigation, memory, swap, understanding ps, top, vmstat, iostat, file system, etc.
  • Strong Performance Tuning experience with relational databases.
  • Database troubleshooting - client/server, query execution sequence, execution plan, log files.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, and release teams, providing architectural design recommendations, driving standards for effective Green Plum and Postgres transition to production operations.
  • Drive end to end availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for Green Plum, using different tools.
  • Develop best practices for performance that can be shared with the development teams to prevent performance issues in production.
  • Implement automated methods and industry best practices for consistent installation and configuration of Green Plum for production and non-production environments.
  • Conduct technical reviews and Walkthroughs of system design documentation with development and design team members.
  • Manage backup and recovery functions for a Greenplum data warehouse environment for example using Data Domain.
  • Proactively monitor and setup alerting mechanism for both database and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability.
  • Create users, establish database security, create resource queue, performance tuning in terms of query execution etc.
  • Installing Greenplum Database for example: 6.x
  • Plan and coordinate system upgrades.
  • Perform capacity monitoring and short and long-term capacity planning in collaboration with development resources, system administrators and system architects.
  • Manage Disaster Recovery environment.
  • Identify and resolve incidents and address to user problems/concerns.
  • Generate reports of all processes and jobs currently running on Greenplum with details like users, start and end time, CPU Usage and time, Memory usage, IO Time, locking etc.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, & problem solving skills.
