EMAIL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

HYBRID POSITION | ONSITE THREE DAYS A WEEK AT JOSTENS’ CORPORATE OFFICE (BLOOMINGTON, MN)

ABOUT YOU:

Are you passionate about using technology to elevate the customer experience? As our Email Development Manager, you’ll lead the execution and evolution of marketing automation and email experiences across our enterprise. In this highly technical and cross-functional role, you’ll collaborate across teams to bring to life automated journeys, advanced personalization, and responsive email design—all while optimizing performance and engagement.

YOU WILL:
  • Lead the development and deployment of email campaigns and automation. Manage Salesforce Marketing Cloud forms and maintain Automated, Journey, and Matrix email programs using HTML, AmpScript, and CSS.

  • Own daily planning and execution of marketing emails. Build and test templates, automate workflows, and ensure timely delivery.

  • Act as a strategic partner and technical expert. Consult internal teams on email development best practices, compliance, and technical implementation.

  • Test, troubleshoot, and optimize email performance. Resolve errors, identify issues quickly, and ensure high deliverability and business continuity.

  • Champion consistency and user experience. Ensure responsive design across browsers and devices for B2C and B2B campaigns.

  • Research and recommend digital innovations. Continuously identify technologies to improve engagement, automation, and performance.

  • Serve as subject matter expert in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Stay current on platform releases, share knowledge with teams, and manage documentation.

  • Document and standardize development processes. Create reusable code bases, amp script logic, and automation procedures.

  • Participate in cross-functional project teams. Lead marketing automation strategy and support short- and long-term initiatives.

  • Support campaign optimization and risk mitigation. Analyze performance trends, identify potential issues, and implement improvements.

  • Typical/expected % of overnight travel:

  • YOU HAVE:
  • Education. BA/BS in marketing, business, computer science, or a related field.

  • Experience. 6+ years of experience in email or front-end development. 5+ years of experience in digital, direct marketing, or email strategy. Solid understanding of best practices in email design and coding for responsive and mobile-optimized email designs. Preferred. Experience with Google Analytics and Salesforce Marketing Cloud and web development/web services experience.

  • Technical Skills. Knowledge of front-end, email, web development, and design work utilizing one or more of the following technologies:
    Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, XML, SQL, JavaScript, AmpScript. Email marketer with a blend of strategic, execution, and creative skills who can apply best practices and HTML code expertise to drive online growth.

  • Analytics Leadership. Energetic, self-starter with ability to collaborate and drive results. Strong understanding of digital experiences, digital best practices, development, marketing automation, and digital analytics/reporting. Ability to identify advanced and innovative techniques for growth.

  • Familiar with journeys, automation studio, personalization logic, and data integrations.

  • A Strategic, Agile Mindset. Passion and ability to iterate quickly on learnings, insights, and strategy development and turn those into actionable email marketing campaigns and plans. Must be flexible and adaptable; comfortable managing rapidly changing directions and priorities.

  • Strong Project Management and Collaboration Skills. Proven prioritization, analytical and project management skills and ability to manage multiple competing tasks simultaneously. Ability to develop strong partnerships internally and externally with vendors/partners.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical partners.
