Senior Collaboration Platform Engineer – SharePoint & Microsoft 365

The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, implementation and lifecycle support of enterprise SharePoint Online and One Drive services. This senior individual‑contributor role provides technical leadership, develops secure and scalable solutions, resolves complex platform issues, and drives automation and continuous improvement. Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric is strongly desired.

• Serve as a senior technical authority for SharePoint Online and One Drive, providing engineering guidance for complex platform, solution, security, governance, and operational issues.
• Design, review and implement scalable enterprise solutions using SharePoint Online, One Drive and related Microsoft 365 capabilities.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, reference designs, configuration standards, operational procedures and technical documentation.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis, developing sustainable corrective actions rather than relying on short‑term fixes.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive administration, reporting, governance and operational processes.
• Evaluate platform risks involving permissions, sharing, lifecycle management, security and governance, working across teams to establish appropriate controls.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and operations staff without requiring formal people‑management responsibility.
• Evaluate new Microsoft capabilities and recommend adoption when they provide meaningful business, security, operational or supportability benefits.
• Work directly with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into secure and supportable solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement across platform reliability, operational efficiency, governance and user experience.

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
• 7-10 years engineering and integration experience with proven technical expertise in Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies, including SharePoint Online and One Drive.
• Demonstrated expertise with platform utilization, performance and operational health; able to produce and evaluate measurement reporting, quickly identify outliers, and recommend solutions.
• Strong analytical and customer service abilities.
• Ability to communicate and articulate technical information across various organizational levels.
• Strong thought leadership abilities and a highly innovative problem solver.
• High reasoning aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex operating environments.
• Ability to coach and mentor experienced engineering staff.
