Job ProfileThe company is recruiting an Underwriting Consultant who will work directly with field advisors and clients with insurance applications.
Responsible for underwriting insurance applications within strict guidelines up to $5,000,000 of life insurance face amount and $8000 monthly benefit on disability.
Education Level- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 5-7 years of relevant experience with Individual Life or Disability Underwriting
- Direct contact with the field to gather financial and medical information on clients, communicate underwriting risk assessment decisions, and assist the field throughout the insurance process.
- Provide formal mentoring of less experienced underwriters. Co-signing on all policies up to $5,000,000 on life insurance and $8,000.00 monthly benefit on disability amounts for underwriter trainees.
- Quality assurance reviewing randomly selected cases completed by a specific underwriter that have a higher premium value. Review for appropriate thought processes and risk assessment decisions and provide coaching and feedback.
- Review and assess medical and non-medical requirements, and partner with the medical director, leadership, and peers as needed to determine insurability. On average, actively manage a caseload of 250 plus applications.
- Review applications from advisors to determine insurability, and categorize the risk to determine the appropriate premium and rating class.
- Travels to field offices or presents via Web Ex, conference calls, or other available technology for coaching, training, and relationship building with advisors.
