OverviewThe Tax, Trusts & Estates group in Minneapolis seeks a tax associate to manage a mix of transactional and controversy matters. Transactional work includes structuring and forming business and investment entities and advising on tax issues in mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, restructurings, and securities offerings. Controversy work covers federal, state, local, and tribal tax issues for both individuals and corporations, spanning examination, administrative appeals, litigation, and collection actions.
Responsibilities- Structure and form business and investment entities and advise on related tax matters.
- Provide counsel on tax issues arising from mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, restructurings, and securities offerings.
- Handle federal, state, local, and tribal tax controversy matters, including income, sales, and use taxes, at all procedural stages.
- Assist with examination phases, administrative appeals, litigation, and collection actions.
- JD from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Strong academic performance.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Admission to the Minnesota bar.
- One to three years of experience as a tax attorney (preferred).
Salary range for Minneapolis applicants: $200,000 – $225,000, determined by experience and other factors. Associates may elect a lower billable‑hours track with proportional salary adjustment and are eligible for the associate bonus program.
