Assistant Supply Chain Manager at Mortenson — Minneapolis, MN.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the vision, direction, and day-to-day operations of the Power Delivery - Supply Chain organization. You will work closely with operations teams and suppliers to plan, coordinate, and execute Supply Chain activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials to meet project timelines and requirements.
Responsibilities- Partner with internal stakeholders including project teams, estimating, and design phase leads to align supply chain strategies with project goals and timelines.
- Manage and implement short and long-term sourcing strategies to achieve business objectives for the Supply Chain function and contribute to company-wide strategy.
- Define sourcing initiatives in alignment with strategic plans and supply chain strategies.
- Support negotiations and maintain contracts and agreements with key suppliers and service providers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
- Build and sustain supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity, leveraging Mortenson’s combined purchasing power.
- Collaborate across all business functions to formulate, implement, and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends and lead the implementation of best practices for supply chain.
- Participate in contract negotiations with assigned customers when selling materials and ensure contract compliance.
- Collaborate with category teams on project proposal strategy.
- Coordinate material planning to ensure timely delivery aligned with project schedules, including long-lead items and critical-path materials.
- Lead the buyer team, establishing strategies for sourcing and supply chain with a process excellence focus.
- Foster teamwork and cross-functional collaboration to provide cohesive solutions and ensure effective delivery of strategy.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members; manage performance and cultivate a culture of continuous learning.
- Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels; champion customer service and a customer-focused approach.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or related experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills with ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience driving process improvements and leading change initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, materials, and purchasing procedures.
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven people leader with experience hiring, coaching, and mentoring a team to meet goals.
- Ability to lead initiatives and influence decisions in a matrix organization; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Positive professional attitude with strong customer service skills; active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback.
- Current driver’s license.

The base pay range for this role is $99,500 - $134,300. Actual range may be higher based on location (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C.). Base pay reflects factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
LocationMinneapolis, MN (Travel as needed to project sites and suppliers).
