Assistant Manager

As Assistant Manager, you bring Lush’s Leadership Practices into all business interactions with customers, staff and operations:

The ASM supports the Shop Manager as needed in all business areas and as delegated by their Retailer; as second‑in‑command, the ASM will pick up Manager duties to support a strong customer experience, staff experience, shop operational excellence, and exceeding sales goals.

Responsibilities Sales & Customer Experience
  • Customer Service: collaborate with your team to exceed daily sales goals and ensure a unique, inclusive customer experience.
  • Building the Brand: educate customers and staff on our values and positions on Fighting Animal Testing, Freshest Cosmetics, Ethical Buying, 100% Vegetarian, Handmade, and Naked Packaging.
  • Product Passion: deepen your product knowledge and make informed recommendations.
  • Driving Sales: demonstrate strong business acumen, understand metrics, budgets and reports, and impact them through behaviors on the floor.
Team Leadership
  • Lead Fearlessly: support your team on the sales floor, answer questions, remove obstacles and motivate them to meet sales goals.
  • Grow Talent: own your development, seek feedback, and support the growth of your team through coaching.
  • Be Real: bring your needs and feedback for your team and leaders and adapt to business needs.

    Purpose:

    engage your team at every level to ensure they are inspired, motivated and building strong relationships.
  • Recruitment & Selection: support staffing with top‑performing staff by networking, recruiting, hiring and succession planning.
  • Staff Development: collaborate with your Manager to improve engagement, retention, performance, and DEIB&B practices.
Operational Excellence
  • Policies & Procedures: keep your shop compliant and ensure staff practice company standards for opening and closing, product integrity, respectful workplace, health and safety and daily communication.
  • Stock & Inventory: train inventory team, manage ordering and stay within budget.
  • Visuals & Merchandising: support development of a clean, beautiful environment and adhere to merchandising and design standards.
  • Scheduling, Time & Attendance: schedule the right staff for peak times, allocate breaks and meals, and ensure payroll accuracy.
Qualifications Required
  • 1‑3 years managing or supervising in a retail environment
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent organization and time‑management skills
  • Strong customer service, supervisory and sales skills
  • Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty and ethical business
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends
Preferred
  • Experience with consultation‑based customer service models
  • Ability to develop and train staff through positive coaching and feedback
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Suite; adaptable to other systems
  • Basic HR skills in hiring, scheduling, training and performance management
  • Experience in cross‑cultural collaboration and DEIB or social justice training
  • Fluency in Spanish, French or other languages
