We have an exciting opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Infectious Diseases. This Advanced Practice Provider will provide medical management of patients in the ambulatory setting. The APP will support physicians as well as work independently in providing primary care to patients with HIV.
** This position offers flexibility and can accommodate a candidate seeking 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
**** RESPONSIBILITIES
* ** Perform initial and on-going assessment of patients’ medical, physical and psychosocial status; complete accurate and prompt documentation of care delivered
* Obtain and evaluate health and medical history; perform physical exam, conduct preventive screening procedures based on age and history; order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests, therapeutic treatments; may prescribe, administer and dispense therapeutic devices and legend drugs
* Discuss, offer, and manage antiretroviral therapy appropriate and consistent with protocols and national guidelines
* Offer prophylaxis and treatment for opportunistic infections and other HIV-related illnesses as consistent with protocols and national guidelines
* Screen patients for STIs in manner consistent with clinic protocols and national guidelines
* Support physicians in the completion of cervical cancer screening and health maintenance activities for women living with HIV
* Assess risk, provide education and recommendations, and prescribe medications and vaccinations prior to international travel
* Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history, and physical examination
* Identify needs of the individual, family or community and develop a plan of care and/or education plan
* Make appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies
* Re-assess and modify the plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals
* Contribute to on-going medical and nursing staff teaching programs
* Support new and existing programs which expand the organization’s role in the community
* Participate in performance improvement activities
* Adhere to productivity standards established by the organization
* Maintain continuing education requirements for licensure and certification
* Perform other related duties as assigned after proper training

* QUALIFICATIONS:
***
* Minimum Qualifications:
*** Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program
* Current MN license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant in the State of Minnesota (or eligibility)
* Certification in the area of specialization by an agency authorized to certify professional nurses in advanced practice
* BLS* Experience providing HIV primary and specialty care (APP, RN or other position)

* Preferred Qualifications:
*** Experienced NP or PA
* Certification from the American Academy of HIV Medicine. If not current, APP will be expected to pursue certification and maintain certification while employed
** Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*** Team player, flexible, confident, dependable, self-starter and organized
* Ability to work well under stress in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to work without close supervision
