Quality Control Supervisor

Primary Objective of PositionThis position leads and develops the Inspector | Tester Team, ensuring the excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement of electrical testing processes within the lab. Oversees the execution of tests, ensuring full compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and internal methodologies. Responsible for the lab, customer discussions, audits, and regulatory or technical forums. Accountable for testing criteria, methodologies, and results meeting the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.
MajorAreas of Accountability
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates Inspectors | Testers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
Responsible for leading, planning, coordination, and validation of trials, ensuring accurate documentation, proper calibration routines, and adherence to 5S practices.
Responsible for organizing and maintaining 5S activities on the shop floor, conducting audits, and engaging employees in workplace organization and cleanliness.
Guides and trains the technical team and promotes continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and lead-time optimization.
Creates clear and effective standards to maintain consistency and quality in processes.
Assesses and evaluates work spaces to identify areas for improvement, to ensure plant-wide alignment with 5S standards and implementation of visual management and standard work.
Develops routines and monitoring processes (including audits) to ensure 5S is successful and sustained over time.
Prepares presentations on PowerPoint and performs other administrative tasks (prepare minutes of meeting, tables and graphs to document improvement results).
Supports other continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen and waste reduction, as required by the Quality Manager and Lean Continuous Improvement Program Manager.
Other responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesElectrical Engineering degree (preferred), or a related field with proven experience in electrical machines.
2-3 years of supervising experience.
2-4 years of experience in quality or electrical testing.
Practical and theoretical knowledge of key electrical tests (vibration, surge, hipot, IR/PI, winding resistance, etc.).
Familiarity with IEEE/NEMA/IEC standards and ISO 9001.
Ability to lead and coordinate technical teams.
Knowledge in planning (plan daily activities with the team and inspection and testing activities) and quality tools.
Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and instrument calibration.
Be proactive to keep the Quality programs (5S, Visual Management, Routine Management, etc.).
Strong commitment to ethical, safety, and quality standards consistent with the WEG Code of Ethics.
Physical RequirementsSeveral tasks require to work in leaning over, extended back position repeatedly, occasionally tight spaces, squatting, and kneeling.
Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving around, and about shop machinery.
Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.
