Commodity Manager/Outside Account Manager
We are a well‑established electrical manufacturer’s agent representing leading electrical manufacturers. We work closely with distributors, contractors, and specifiers to deliver solutions that drive growth for our manufacturers and customers.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Commodity Manager / Outside Account Manager to manage assigned electrical product lines while actively developing and supporting distributor, contractor, and end‑user accounts. This hybrid role combines product line ownership and manufacturer management with outside sales and account development, making it ideal for a commercially driven professional with strong electrical industry experience.
Key Responsibilities Commodity & Product Line Management- Manage assigned electrical product lines and commodity categories
- Serve as the primary point of contact for represented manufacturers
- Coordinate pricing, programs, rebates, and agreements
- Analyze market trends, commodity cost drivers, and competitive positioning
- Support product launches, line reviews, and training initiatives
- Manage and grow assigned distributor, contractor, and end‑user accounts
- Develop new business opportunities and expand market share
- Support project quotations, negotiated contracts, and bid strategies
- Conduct joint sales calls and jobsite visits
- Maintain strong relationships with key decision‑makers
- Collaborate with inside and outside sales teams
- Provide product selection, application guidance, and alternatives
- Communicate lead times, availability, and supply constraints
- Assist with orders, delivery, and issue resolution
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in the electrical industry (manufacturer, agent, or distributor)
- Experience in outside sales or account management
- Strong knowledge of electrical products and distribution channels
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Experience working for an electrical manufacturer’s agent
- Knowledge of project bid processes, pricing agreements, and rebates
- Familiarity with NEC, electrical specifications, and construction workflows
