Job Description
Industrial Hygienist – Mobile Lab Technician (Direct Hire)
OverviewOperating out of a mobile laboratory in the Minneapolis‑MN metro area, the Mobile Lab Technician will travel within a defined region to collect environmental samples (asbestos, mold, lead, soot), conduct on‑site testing, and generate accurate reports that support environmental safety and compliance. The role plays a key part in helping clients manage environmental hazards and ensure safe building environments.
Responsibilities- Travel within the assigned region to collect environmental samples for asbestos, mold, lead, and soot testing.
- Conduct on‑site analysis using approved laboratory techniques and equipment such as Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), XRF analyzers, and other industry‑standard tools.
- Perform detailed inspections of buildings and sites to assess potential contamination.
- Analyze and interpret data to determine the presence and extent of environmental hazards.
- Generate comprehensive reports summarizing findings, including test results and recommendations for remediation.
- Communicate clearly with clients to ensure understanding of the process and results, and address any project‑specific concerns.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of environmental regulations and testing standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs to enhance technical skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications strongly preferred, including NIOSH 582, EPA AHERA, or ACAC certifications (e.g., CIEC).
- Prior experience with asbestos, mold, and lead testing in a laboratory or field setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with microscopy techniques is a plus—training will be provided.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow established testing procedures.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned area and work flexible hours as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
