Job DescriptionThis is a Benefits eligible PAID position, 32-40 hours per week.
Primary Duty:
Performs individual and group social work functions for Volunteers of America of MN High-rise Social Service Program as assigned in Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) High-Rise buildings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide social work services, including advocacy, information and assistance, and case management, to secure services and problem resolution for residents and clients of assigned buildings to assist people to live as independently as possible.
- Together with supervisor, evaluate and adjust services in the buildings as needed to ensure best outcomes for clients and residents.
- Outreach to individuals and groups within assigned buildings to ensure that residents and potential clients are aware of available services.
Education/
Experience:
- BSW in social work or BA in related field from an accredited institution
- Social work license in Minnesota (LSW)
- Minimum of two years experience in social work with elderly, other diverse populations, those with special needs or social service programs
- Experience working in North and Northeast Minneapolis a plus

- Cultural and linguistic competence
- Patience and perseverance in dealing with program participants
The Senior Social Service Program provides a variety of services to Seniors enabling older adults to maintain independence.
