Aspen Tech is looking for a Software Developer to join our Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) Team. In this role you will design and develop new features, ensuring innovative, user‑centric experiences with a high standard of quality. You will work with software and electrical industry professionals to create software that enables our customers and the grid to support dynamic and robust deployment of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), such as solar and wind installations.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain backend service and application software using C++.
- Collaborate with other developers, architects, and stakeholders to design and implement best‑in‑class software.
- Design and implement reliable, performant, and fault‑tolerant code based on requirements and/or user stories.
- Ensure reliable code by developing unit tests.
- Assist in code and design reviews.
- Take part in agile team ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, story refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Investigate, isolate, and identify solutions to reported software malfunctions.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems emphasis preferred).
- Familiarity with mixed integer programming and convex optimization.
- Familiarity with industrial solvers such as Gurobi, CLP, and/or CBC.
- 2‑4 years of experience with backend code in C/C++.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- A strong desire to have your work positively impact the industry and the world.
- Experience using version control (Git, etc.) in a team environment.
Experience identifying, communicating, and resolving problems in a collaborative, professional manner. - A passion for learning and working on challenging problems.
- Knowledge of modern grid technologies such as DERMS, DMS, BES, VVO, and VPP (preferred).
- Electrical engineering background in the utility industry (preferred).
Salary range: $90,200.00 – $. The role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
