Job Description

As a Senior Development Engineer you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight into the application architecture, distill abstract architecture into concrete design, influence implementation, and apply appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems.

Engineer’s Role

• Lead design, development, testing and lifecycle management of services.
• Lead code review, design review, testing and debugging activities at the application level.
• Lead and construct cloud‑ready applications on in‑prem cloud or cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Building new features and functions on existing services.
• Building new services as applicable.
• Writing consumers and producers to Kafka.
• Ensuring code remains highly testable and maintains high test coverage.
• Follow team cadence on support, including taking on‑call activities.
• Build awareness on operational processes such as change management, deployment practices, communications.

Essential Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin.
• Hands‑on experience with Micronaut or Spring Boot.
• Experience in Dev Ops tools and technologies.
• Solid knowledge of Apache Kafka.
• Experience implementing observability tools (Open Telemetry, Grafana).
• Proficient in test‑driven development (K6, JUnit).
• Proficient with container technologies and orchestrators.
• Strong communication skills and cross‑functional team experience.
• Passion for clean, maintainable code and system reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Contractor or consultant experience in similar enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with Git‑based workflows and Agile methodologies.
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Advanced architectural patterns (event sourcing, CQRS).
• Experience building automated end‑to‑end test suites for enterprise‑scale applications, emphasis on cross‑team integration, CI/CD.
• Experience developing or integrating intelligent systems (ML models, data‑driven decision making, NL understanding).
• Exposure to or experience with AI‑assisted coding tools (Git Hub Copilot, ChatGPT).

Engineering Consists Of

• Robust and distributed microservices and event‑based architectures with mature CI/CD pipelines.
• High levels of automation.
• High observability with robust logs and metrics.
• Microservices built on Spring Boot or Micronaut with Kotlin.
• Cloud‑ready applications deployed on in‑prem cloud.
