Responsibilities- Monitor and support the academic progress of the athletes in the program. Aid athletes in meeting the academic eligibility requirements and maximizing their academic potential.
- Be responsible for the instruction and supervision of the fundamentals and specific direction of the program so that each athlete has the equal opportunity to improve.
- Abide by the rules of the game in letter and spirit.
- Know, understand, support and adhere to school, district, state and national policies and philosophies.
- Keep an up-to-date list of team members by grade and r.
- Provide an environment free of safety hazards.
- Maintain exemplary conduct at practices and games that reflect respect toward teammates, opponents, officials and spectators; require the same from team members.
- Plan, organize and supervise regular practice sessions with an effective conditioning program and opportunities for all athletes to improve.
- Understand and practice proper care and prevention of injuries.
- Attend rules interpretation meetings yearly and hold preseason meetings with parents and athletes.
- Know and adhere to eligibility rules; assist the Building Athletic Director in counseling students to maintain eligibility.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining required records (physical exams, eligibility bulletins, parent forms, insurance disclaimer, participation fees, transportation requests, award winners).
- Assist in establishing a non-conference schedule and arranging district transportation when needed.
- Establish and implement an awards (lettering) policy for the sport or activity.
- Provide written expectations regarding attendance, communication procedures, squad size, bus procedures, etc., at the initial team meeting and to new joiners.
- Submit a statement on promoting multicultural, gender fair and inclusive practices for students with disabilities in the program.
- Supervise all student athletes during practices, games and on buses; ensure safety and security of facilities before leaving the building; ensure athletes use district transportation.
Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
