Customs Entry Writer

Salary: $50k to $65k, depending on experience

  • At least one year of current experience in Customs Entries within the freight forwarding industry
  • Valid visa to work in the USA (visa/sponsorship not available)

Role overview

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including clearance processes, classification, and valuation.

This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a focus on accuracy to contribute positively to the team’s success.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage accounts from start to finish, including preparing documentation for Customs clearance and PGA compliance
  • Provide excellent customer service and perform tasks assigned by supervisors
  • Prepare Arrival Notices and set up files
  • Input data from agents and freight forwarders
  • File Customs entries and work with Customs and government agencies for cargo release
  • Handle billing, including ISF filing and documentation such as bill of lading, commercial packing list, certificate of origin
  • Coordinate with CBP and address quarantine issues
  • Manage fees and duty taxes
  • Sign documents on behalf of clients using power of attorney
