Position Title: Substitute Teacher (EC–12)
Location: Waubun‑Ogema‑White Earth School District
Position Type: On‑Call / As Needed
Substitute teachers are responsible for delivering instruction to students in grades EC–12 in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This position ensures the continuation of learning and upholds classroom expectations and procedures.
Substitutes may collaborate with other instructional staff, administrators, counselors, and district personnel to support student learning and address classroom needs.
Primary Responsibilities- Deliver lessons aligned with district curriculum and teacher plans
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Communicate clear learning objectives using effective teaching techniques
- Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment
- Encourage positive behavior and classroom discipline
- Monitor student progress and offer support as appropriate
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the classroom space
- Collaborate with staff to promote student achievement and school goals
- Stay current on best teaching practices and district expectations
- Demonstrate knowledge of instructional methods, child development, and subject content

- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in various classroom settings
- Ability to assess student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Competence in using technology and digital tools for instruction (as needed)
While this position does not directly supervise other employees, substitute teachers may provide indirect guidance to paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related subject area
Licensure:
Valid Minnesota teaching license in the appropriate instructional area
