Salary Range

BS Year 1: $46,596 – PHD Year 23: $87,086. Salary dependent upon education and experience following negotiated EMLF agreement.  contract is currently under negotiations.

Position Overview

The primary role of the school psychologist is to assess the needs and abilities of students, provide consultation to teachers, support staff, and parents, and collaborate to promote effective educational environments. The school psychologist applies their expertise to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. This individual administers assessments and standardized evaluations, and designs and implements interventions for a wide spectrum of difficulties students may face.

The School Psychologist participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem‑solving meetings, designing systems, programs, and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success.

Basic Responsibilities
  • Assist school staff in identifying students with disabilities, preschool through 22 years, and in planning appropriate evaluation and reevaluation procedures for individual students.
  • Administer intellectual psychosocial, adaptive behavior, and other psychological assessments, including standardized tests and other procedures, to determine Special Education eligibility. Provide written and oral evaluation reports to professionals and parents based on evaluation results.
  • Design and complete behavior and ecological observation/data collection systems, effective student management, intervention techniques, and ecological interventions in school and community environments that are compatible with student needs.
  • Participate in evaluation teams, child study teams, and student assistant teams.
  • Provide consultation to staff and parents about the educational needs of students and strategies for improving instructional and learning environments.
  • Develop pre‑referral intervention strategies to maintain students in regular education programs when possible (MTSS).
  • Provide social and emotional support services to individual students or groups of students as identified in IEPs.
  • Participate in in‑service training and provide/facilitate trainings as determined by the Executive Director.
  • Assist in school district projects or special activities that require consultation and/or direct services of a school psychologist.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid MN teaching licensure as a School Psychologist (Licensure Requirements).
  • Knowledge of special education due process procedures and criteria.
  • Experience working on multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to counsel individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to transport self among member districts and to regional and state meetings as necessary.
