Job Summary

While taking direction from plant management, coordinates the development and hands‑on implementation of a comprehensive industrial safety and environmental program for an Andersen business unit. Ensures alignment with Enterprise Safety and Environmental Services objectives and that safe procedures, awareness, and training are conducted with a goal to achieve continuous improvement for the reduction of work‑related injuries / illnesses and related cost reduction strategies.

As applicable in the business unit, ensures strong environmental compliance. Achieves compliance obligations with applicable safety, health standards and environmental regulations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development and coordination of Andersen's Safety and Environmental programs to maintain compliance with federal, state and local codes.
  • Provides or coordinates site‑specific safety and environmental training/testing (incident investigation, new employee orientation, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, safety inspections, job safety analysis, audiometric testing, hazardous waste, stormwater, air compliance, spill response, etc.).
  • Works with site manufacturing engineering to conduct safety assessments of new or modified equipment/processes under Andersen's Safety Assessment Procedure.
  • Creates or customizes detailed safety programs/procedures to meet site‑specific environment and ensures availability of PPE.
  • Assists in completing environmental tasks, inspections and other regulatory tasks as directed.
  • Conducts ergonomic assessments to identify risk factors and works with engineering to implement control measures.
  • Supports location safety and environmental assessments (audits, inspections, accident investigations), recommending and assisting in execution of corrective actions. Trains auditors as needed.
  • Participates in coordination of plant safety committee and routine enterprise environmental calls and training.
  • Accurately maintains plant safety and environmental data and training records in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
Must Have Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of safety experience.
  • Knowledge of government regulations concerning health, safety & the environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety.
  • ASP, GSP, CSP Certification.
  • Strong environmental skills and program management experience.
