Job SummaryGEOTEK, a market leader in high‑performance, engineered composite structural solutions, is looking for a high‑potential, highly motivated engineering manager to join our engineering team. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides leadership to the composite manufacturing engineering team as they support and continuously optimize the pultrusion and filament winding production processes. Leveraging existing department expertise, the manager will foster continuous improvement of the composite production process and increased productivity to support GEOTEK’s growth.
The ideal candidate is energetic, self‑motivated, self‑starting, hands‑on, and an influential leader who is resilient, data‑driven, detail oriented, and capable of challenging existing processes to promote safety, quality, and productivity.
- Manage a team of 3‑6 engineers and engineering technicians with direct responsibility for the filament winding composite manufacturing process.
- Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing standards, and manage engineering support of process training and technical assistance to the operations team.
- Optimize composite manufacturing processes, challenge current operating procedures, and propose new equipment, technologies, and processes to promote safety, quality, and productivity.
- Support design, acquisition, implementation, and maintenance of composite manufacturing tooling and tooling inspection and service requirements.
- Conduct weekly engineering project review meetings, providing support and guidance to team members.
- Scope and delegate engineering projects that improve safety, quality, and productivity in the composite manufacturing department.
- Maintain open and frequent communication with the operations manager and supervisors to ensure alignment with operations.
- Work cross‑functionally to manage manufacturing engineering support of production quality, equipment readiness, new product development, and cost reduction/supply‑chain risk mitigation.
- Research, propose, and implement capital expenditure projects.
- Support the growth of team members by providing guidance through increasingly challenging tasks and giving feedback on performance.
- Ensure team members maintain clear, complete, and accurate records for project documentation.
- Maintain and promote a clean and organized workspace.
- Four‑year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (mechanical, composites, manufacturing, or chemical preferred).
- 5‑10 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment, with recent leadership/management and composites/pultrusion/filament winding experience strongly preferred.
- Energetic, hands‑on problem solver who is self‑motivated, self‑starting, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capable of working from a vision, independently developing actionable tasks and projects, and effectively delegating to others.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver concise messages efficiently.
- Ability to work with different levels of staff from line workers to executives throughout the organization.
- Familiarity with common thermoset resin systems (polyester, vinyl‑ester, urethane) and manufacturing tooling design and development.
- Experience with engineering structured approaches and methodologies (DOE, FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Experience with 3‑D modeling using Solid Works, GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; formal GD&T training is desirable.
- Experience with finite element analysis software systems is desirable.
- Experience with MS Office.
- Detail oriented and organized to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Ability to manage support of occasional off‑shift trials and production support requests as required.
- Must be able to stand, lift, use manual tools, and power tools.
- Must adhere to all corporate policies and procedures and remain flexible as priorities change.
